Hello V-Hawk Parents and Families!
Like the season we’re about to enter, new growth, extended light, and vibrant signs of life are springing forth on campus. As the temperatures rise and the days grow longer, we look forward with anticipation to the hammocks in the courtyards, impromptu ultimate frisbee and sand volleyball games, and studying outside in the sunshine. We also look forward to the many ways we get to celebrate student academic achievement, co-curricular leadership, athletic success, and of course––graduation and the completion of a college degree.
The information below and important dates at right are designed to keep you in the loop so you can continue doing what you’ve always done––challenge and support your V-Hawk as they bloom and grow into the best version of themselves. Thank you for partnering with us on this journey.
All the best,

The Viterbo Conservatory students delivered an outstanding performance in The Marriage of Figaro, bringing Mozart’s masterpiece to life with remarkable energy, vocal brilliance, and heartfelt storytelling. Their vocal skill, comedic timing, and emotional depth captivated the audience, making this production a memorable tribute to opera.
Up next for student productions is The SpongeBob Musical April 10-13. It’s a colorful, whimsical, funny, and infectious Tony Award-winning musical that will inspire audiences of all ages to celebrate friendship, resilience, and the power of optimism.

Looking Ahead to Summer and Fall
|
|
Undergraduate Summer Course Registration Open
It’s almost mid-semester and we’re looking ahead to summer and fall! The undergraduate summer course schedule posted over winter break and is available on Student Planner; course registration is open and runs through early May. The summer is divided into two parts; classes run the first half of summer, May 12–June 28, second half, June 30–Aug.15, or the full semester.
Summer is an excellent time for students to complete a core curriculum class or two and stay ahead, or repeat a required course for their degree. Summer course offerings include natural science, literary analysis, philosophical inquiry, VUSM, and more. Your student may also choose to complete a for-credit summer internship as part of their degree requirements. Internships can be done anywhere in the world and are a proven way to connect in-class teaching with real-world experiences.
Discounted Summer Tuition
Viterbo will again be offering discounted summer tuition for undergraduate students taking summer classes or completing a summer internship. See the website for more information on summer courses and housing at https://www.viterbo.edu/summer or email acd@viterbo.edu with questions.
Fall 2025 Schedule to Post Monday, March 17; Registration Opens April 7
All undergraduate students are required to meet with their assigned advisor for registration approval prior to registration starting on Monday, April 7. Students will receive communication from their advisor about scheduling a registration appointment. This provides an opportunity for students to meet 1:1 with their advisor to review their academic plan, ask questions, and make schedule changes.
During these appointments students receive personalized guidance and support. Many students find these meetings incredibly beneficial, as one student shared: |
“[My advisor] made me feel completely comfortable, addressed all my concerns, and answered all my questions. The meeting was greatly productive and I feel confident in my academic plan at Viterbo because of her. She is an amazing advisor.”
|
|
In advance of registration, it’s important a student pays any outstanding fees/fines that could prevent them from registering when their assigned time comes.

SUMMER RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
|
|
SURF Applications Due March 24
|
|
Viterbo University is proud to host an eight-week, student-faculty collaborative research program involving research teams from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. Viterbo's Student Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program affords undergraduates an opportunity to work closely with a faculty mentor to develop meaningful research questions and/or ideas for creative work, hone their research and presentation skills via the SURF Brown Bag Seminar Series, and learn and grow within a tight-knit community of faculty and student scholars.
Applications are now available for the 2025 SURF program and are due Monday, March 24. The research term will begin May 13 and run until July 4.
Read about a SURF project conducted last summer at Viterbo that focused on discovering new antibiotics.

Countdown to Commencement is March 25
|
|
For graduating seniors (and their parents), commencement will be here before they know it. We like to make sure they're prepared by inviting candidates for graduation to our annual Countdown to Commencement event on March 25, which offers seniors a chance to get their photos taken in cap and gown for the commencement slide show, learn about their alumni benefits, an visit with career services staff about job prospects.
