The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll Award

Viterbo University was proud to be a recipient of the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll Award in 2016. Viterbo has received this honor every year since 2010.

The President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll highlights the role colleges and universities play in solving community problems and placing more students on a lifelong path of civic engagement by recognizing institutions that achieve meaningful, measureable outcomes in the communities they serve. This annual award is a special initiative of the Corporation for National Community Service, or the AmeriCorps program.  This program was discontinued by the federal government in November 2016. 

125,000+ Hours of Service and 25,000 Pounds of Food

In celebration of our 125th anniversary, the Viterbo community set a lofty goal of completing 125,000 hours of service during the 2014–2015 academic year. Students, faculty, administration, and alumni exceeded the goal, logging 127,297 hours of service.

We also set a campus-wide goal of collecting 25,000 pounds of food to donate to local agencies in need. Two Viterbo alumni, Mark Skogen ’92 of Festival Foods  and Derek Burnstad ’05 of Burnstad’s Market, teamed up to generously donate 12,500 pounds for our food drive.
