Come listen to the true story of Matoaka, or as most people know her Pocahantas. She was the first documented MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women). We will watch a movie that has accurate information about her encounter with John Smith. We will also enjoy a few precolonized foods from the Sioux Chef Cookbook.

MMIW is a widespread issue of violence against Indigenous People who go missing or are murdered. Our relatives do not get the nationwide coverage that they deserve. Often their disappearances and murders go unreported and unsolved.
