Health Care in Belize

Program Overview

Study Abroad: Health Care in Belize

This immersive study abroad experience offers nursing students an opportunity to participate in the direct delivery of healthcare services to under-served populations with limited resources in San Ignacio and Succotz, Belize. Students will work alongside Belizean nurses and other healthcare team members, providing ambulatory, inpatient and in-home care to patients in a variety of clinical settings. The program also includes health and wellness visits to various villages and pediatric health education in local schools, along with several presentations about Healthcare in Belize from a member of the Belizean Ministry of Health. The trip concludes with cultural immersion on the barrier island of Caye Calker. This experience integrates clinical practice, service learning, and cultural exploration, making it a valuable opportunity for students to enhance their professional and global competencies.
