I like the small class sizes and that the instructors really care about you. I’ve had multiple times where I’ve gotten emails from instructors where they’re saying, ‘Hey so and so is hiring. If you’re interested in this job please apply.’ I feel like when I graduate, it’s going to be impossible for me not to have a job.

I love working with college students, their energy and enthusiasm is contagious. I was blessed to have people walk with me and guide me on my faith journey when I was at Viterbo, and I hope to do that with my students.”

The skills I gained with my degree in social work at Viterbo have allowed me to succeed in a wide range of positions—from small group intervention with elementary students in a charter school to developing and implementing programs from the ground up with a new nonprofit. The close relationships I was able to develop with the faculty allowed them to get to know me and to challenge me to be the best I could be. They provided me with all the tools I needed to succeed. My experiences have taught me that the quality of education you get at Viterbo is unique and not one you are likely to find anywhere else.”

Career services helped me immensely with my decision process through aptitude tests and individual appointments that helped me determine what my strengths and weaknesses were. Everyone at Viterbo career services, my advisor, and my professors were extremely patient during my decision process. I’m glad I didn’t rush into making a decision because it let me try a variety of studies until I found my passion—marketing. Viterbo really provides an intimate and individualized experience. Sometimes I felt I was receiving some sort of special treatment, when in reality that’s how every student is treated at Viterbo.

In my experiences as an English instructor and grant writer, I have analyzed various types of writing from students and faculty to advise them on how to clearly identify and develop their purpose and meaning through organization, language choice, and supported evidence—skills I developed as an English literature major at Viterbo. ”

Viterbo offered me numerous opportunities through volunteering in the community, interprofessional workshops, and on-campus clubs to help me develop as a person so I could identify how compassion, empathy, and servant leadership would help me become the best possible health care provider in my future career.

The Viterbo science department helps prepare students for the fast-paced work environment of the health science field by providing them with endless opportunities. Faculty build personal relationships with students, helping them network with professionals in the field and build up the skills needed to thrive in the field of science. The one-on-one connection between students and staff is above and beyond that of other universities!

I have always had a passion for learning about the brain and neurodevelopment. The biopsychology major provided a balance between the neurochemistry of the brain and learning about human behavior. This knowledge has proven especially helpful as I pursue a career as a licensed professional counselor. The biopsychology major helped prepare me for my master’s program by expanding my understanding of the neurobiology behind human behavior, which has ultimately helped me better understand the people I serve.

Viterbo was the perfect school for me because of its size, opportunities, and atmosphere. The small class sizes made it possible for professors to know the students and created an environment that allowed me to become the teacher that I am. I have continued my educational journey through the Masters of Education program at Viterbo and would recommend it to anyone entering the teaching profession.”
