Whitney Hegseth '14 is the marketing communications manager at Gensler, the world’s largest architecture firm. She said her biggest takeaway from her time as an undergraduate business major at Viterbo is the value of servant leadership, and she returned to campus to earn a servant leadership certificate in 2021.

Angelo Ferreira Teston, a business administration international student-athlete from Dourados, Brazil, transformed Viterbo’s international admissions (IA) procedure. Through his internship with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Viterbo’s approach to supporting incoming international students has been strengthened.

For Shannon McManimon, program director of Viterbo’s Ethical Leadership Doctorate in Education program, the concepts of transformation and education are inextricably linked. Part of McManimon’s vision for the EdD in ethical leadership program recognizes that there are challenges in the world and that leadership is important to help move through those challenges. She said her hope is that the program would help to teach students how to work toward the common good and how to be more fully human.

The D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership first began its student fellowship program in fall 2021. The program has five to six fellows each year, both undergraduate and graduate students. The fellows have a variety of roles that include planning programs, introducing speakers, serving as greeters, and maintaining and updating the social media accounts and Ethics Institute website.

Valerie Savage, a 2022 graduate of Viterbo’s Master of Arts in Servant Leadership (MASL) program, has pursued many dreams. From working as an educator to serving as a spiritual director to becoming a certified master scuba diver, Savage is a testament to lifelong learning. Her experience in the MASL program even led her to publish a book, "Transcending through Servant Leadership."

Passionate about shaping the future of higher education and student success, John Robinson, associate professor of finance at Viterbo, shares his thoughts on what innovation in higher education looks like today, how Viterbo is leading the charge, and what the future holds for both the institution and its students.

For students entering the business world, the importance of mentorship cannot be overstated. At the Dahl School of Business, members of the Advisory Board are offering guidance to first-year students, stressing that finding a mentor early in their careers can be a crucial factor for long-term success.

Viterbo University is taking a bold step forward. Partnering with the engineering, mathematics, and computer science department, the Dahl School of Business is set to launch a cutting-edge STEM MBA in computer science in the summer of 2025. This innovative program aims to equip future business leaders with the technological prowess required to thrive in the digital age.
