The D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership first began its student fellowship program in fall 2021. The program has five to six fellows each year, both undergraduate and graduate students. The fellows have a variety of roles that include planning programs, introducing speakers, serving as greeters, and maintaining and updating the social media accounts and Ethics Institute website. Each fellow has the opportunity to serve in a role that they will succeed at as well as learn more about.
“The program has allowed me to make new connections and get involved within the community while being allowed to work on and advance skills that interest me,” said Kelcie Karweick, who has been a student fellow for two years.
The innovation of the Ethics Fellowship program is demonstrated through the new ideas and unique experiences of its student fellows and staff, as they strive to make a positive impact on the Viterbo and La Crosse communities.
The 2024–25 Reinhart Institute Fellows include the following:
Alyamr Ismaili is a junior at Viterbo, majoring in computer science. This is his first year as a student fellow. He has a passion for exploration, whether it be through hiking on a trail he's not yet explored or listening to a music genre he hasn't heard before. He's excited to make an impact at Viterbo this year.
Kelcie Karweick is a junior business major with a marketing minor from Seymour. She is on the Viterbo women's soccer team and has played since she was young. She also loves working out and staying active, along with enjoying the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. In the summer, you can find her at her cottage on a lake, where she enjoys water sports including jet skiing, boating, and more.
Kyle Trietley is from La Crosse and is in his first year of the Master of Arts in Servant Leadership program. He has a deep passion for connecting with others and helping them learn more about themselves, develop their potential, and grow as leaders. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, working out, playing golf, reading, and spending time with his family and dog. He is very excited to make an impact as a student fellow.
Meagan Ronsman recently began pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Viterbo. She previously studied psychology and public health at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. She has called La Crosse home for more than 20 years and lives here with her three young children and husband. She loves to explore the bluffs, rivers, and streams of the Driftless Region with her family and travels as often as she can. As someone who seeks to learn and connect with others meaningfully, she is looking forward to the experience of being a student fellow.
Maya Bubbers is a sophomore from La Crescent, Minn., majoring in communication disorders and sciences in hopes of becoming a speech-language pathologist. She is on the Viterbo women's soccer team. She enjoys being active, whether that’s working out, hiking, or doing various activities outside.
