When I think of my colleague and friend, all I can say is that he was a class act (no pun intended). I never saw Earl being cross or mad at anyone. He was a true problem-solver and decision-maker and would defend the program and his students to the last breathe he had.
After he retired as the director, he continued to be my mentor and advisor. He reminded me so much of my Dad, who passed the year before I met Earl. His family, friends and colleagues were everything to him. The world lost a great man and leader and I am certain that God said “well done my faithful servant” when he reached the pearly gates. I will never forget him and the influence he had on my career and life.
