Viterbo was a very different place when Todd Ericson was hired as the college’s controller in 1993.
Junior biology major Olivia Abernathy knows how important it is to respect and understand each other, especially in today’s global society.
“There is no possible way to avoid diversity in our lives, so we need to be kind to each other and recognize there are many people with different life experiences and identities,” Abernathy said. “Educating ourselves opens up our entire world.”
Helen Elsbernd, FSPA ’65 faced a difficult decision in 1976. Then a chemistry professor at Viterbo, she loved teaching. That year however, she was asked to become the academic dean of the college. It was a promotion to be sure, but one that would take her out of the classroom.
