Aspiring Scientists Get Boost from Grateful Couple
Jim and Elaine Schauls are very thankful for the life with which they’ve been blessed. They have excellent health, successful children, wonderful grandchildren, and financial security. As they thought about estate planning and reflected on all they had, they realized something. “We should be doing something to help others,” Jim said.
“It changed my life. Scholarship support has opened doors for me that I never could have imagined.”
Greg Lind is a trailblazer and his list of accomplishments includes a rather impressive number of firsts. The 1976 Viterbo nursing graduate went on to earn an MSN for Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Missouri School of Nursing and he was the first graduate of that program. Greg was also in the first Ph.D. in Nursing class at the University of Kansas School of Nursing.
“There are many stories and lessons that I will take with me far beyond my time at Viterbo, I will be a leader and teammate in everything I do.”

As youth, Serena Bahe and her husband Chris both experienced a great deal of adversity, especially financial. Their college education was made possible through scholarships and other financial assistance. Now they’re returning the favor.
Former Faculty Member Remembers Viterbo Students
Diane Foust retired in 2013 after a long and illustrious career as a music professor at Viterbo University. Now, she and her husband Jim Nelson are giving back to the university and its students by including both in their estate planning.
My family was very happy and proud. That means a lot to me.”
