VITERBO UNIVERSITY BRIGHT STAR SEASON TO OPEN WITH THE OAK RIDGE BOYS FRONT PORCH SINGIN’ TOUR SEPT. 9
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Country music icons The Oak Ridge Boys will bring their Front Porch Singin’ Tour to the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.
With 17 number one country singles, 14 top-ten albums, and 41 million records sold, The Oak Ridge Boys are synonymous with “America, apple pie, baseball, and country music.” They are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and were the recipients of the Academy of Country Music Pioneer Award for Lifetime Achievement.
The group’s double-platinum single Elvira set the country and pop charts on fire in 1981 and paved the way for three more crossover charted singles, Bobbie Sue, American Made, and So Fine. In addition to all their country music success and accolades, The Oak Ridge Boys have received five Grammy Awards, nine Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, and two American Music Awards.
The Oak Ridge Boys—Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden, and Richard Sterban— and award-winning Nashville producer Dave Cobb went into the studio to record the Front Porch Singin’ album in August 2020, a time when the world needed a positive message.
“I think God had a plan for this album, I really do,” says tenor singer Joe Bonsall. “It was bigger than the four of us even realized when we were working on it.”
The Front Porch Singin’ Tour features both new music and the group’s classic hits.
This performance is sponsored by Gundersen Hotel & Suites and WKBT News 8 Now.
Tickets are $69 for main floor and lower balcony, and $59 for upper balcony seating, plus taxes and fees. For more information or to order tickets, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or visit www.viterbo.edu/tickets.
