THE MUSIC OF BILLY JOEL AND ELTON JOHN STARRING MICHAEL CAVANAUGH AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY MARCH 21

LA CROSSE, Wis. – A limited number of tickets remain for The Music of Billy Joel and Elton John Starring Michael Cavanaugh at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 21 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

The Music of Billy Joel and Elton John features the greatest hits of these rock piano legends, including Piano Man, Rocket Man, Bennie and the Jets, Movin’ Out, I’m Still Standing, My Life, and many more.

Handpicked by Billy Joel to star in the hit Broadway musical Movin’ Out, Cavanaugh received Tony and Grammy Award nominations for his work in the lead role. He appeared in the show for three years and gave more than 1,200 performances.

Cavanaugh began playing at age seven, when his parents bought their first piano. Encouraged by family and friends, and inspired by his hero Billy Joel, Cavanaugh formed his first band at age 10. In January 1999, Cavanaugh received an offer that would eventually change his life, an opportunity to play Las Vegas at the famed New York, New York Hotel and Casino. It was there that Billy Joel spotted Cavanaugh and joined him on stage one fateful night of February 2001. It only took two songs before Joel was convinced that he had found his new Piano Man. Cavanaugh then moved to New York City to work alongside Joel and Twyla Tharp to shape the Broadway musical that became Movin’ Out.

The New York Times reviewer described Cavanaugh as “amazing.” Variety magazine called him “brilliant.”

This performance is sponsored by River Valley Media Group and La Crosse Graphics. It is also supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Tickets are $49 for main floor and lower balcony and $39 for upper balcony seating, plus a $3 convenience fee and $1 facility fee per ticket. All orders will include a 5.5% sales tax.
