KEVIN KNOPP: PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS 2008–2024 ART EXHIBIT TO OPEN IN THE VITERBO UNIVERSITY GALLERY JAN. 20; RECEPTION AND ARTIST WORKSHOP IN MARCH
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The art exhibit Kevin Knopp: Paintings and Drawings 2008–2024 will open in the Viterbo University Gallery Monday, Jan. 20.
Knopp is a Wisconsin-based painter known for his “lyrical landscapes and sensitive still life, influenced by the uncanny and overlooked in our ubiquitous everyday landscape.” His work is heavily inspired by impressionism, both in technique and intent, using soft pastels colors and Plein air painting techniques as he attempts to capture “a particular event and emotional experience in time and space that is then hopefully conveyed to the viewer.”
“The exhibit demonstrates a masterful sense of place through the artists documentation of his experience traveling throughout Wisconsin and beyond,” said Kira Peters, instructor of art at Viterbo University.
A reception with Knopp will be held Wednesday, March 26 from 4–5 p.m., followed by an artist workshop from 5–6 p.m. The exhibit will be on display until Wednesday, April 2.
There is no admission fee to the gallery, which is located on the third floor of the Viterbo Fine Arts Center. The gallery is open from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. when school is in session. For the full schedule of Viterbo University gallery exhibits, visit www.viterbo.edu/gallery.
