ACCLAIMED INTERNATIONAL FOLK ACT THE WAILIN’ JENNYS TO PERFORM AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY NOV. 2
LA CROSSE, Wis. – One of today’s most beloved international folk music groups, The Wailin’ Jennys, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
The Wailin’ Jennys consists of singers Nicky Mehta, Ruth Moody, and Heather Masse—three distinct voices that together make an achingly perfect vocal sound. Starting as solo singer-songwriters getting together for a one-time-only performance at a tiny guitar shop in Winnipeg, Manitoba, The Wailin’ Jennys continue to create some of the most exciting and exquisite music on the folk-roots scene, stepping up their musical game with each critically-acclaimed recording and thrilling audiences with their live performances.
In 2004, The Wailin’ Jennys released their debit full-length album, 40 Days, to great critical acclaim, receiving a 2005 Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year. Follow up albums Firecracker, Live at Mauch Chunk Opera House, Bright Morning Stars, and Fifteen, also received significant critical and commercial success.
This performance is sponsored by Wisconsin Public Radio and WKBT News 8 Now. It is also supported in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Tickets are $64 for main floor and lower balcony, and $54 for upper balcony seating, plus taxes and fees. For more information or to order tickets, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or visit www.viterbo.edu/tickets.
