This course examines the accounting equation, the accrual basis for accounting, information contained on financial statements, and managerial accounting topics. Students will develop relevant accounting-related skills and integrate their knowledge in the context of larger management issues such as cost analysis and budgeting.

Students will learn the statistical techniques for collecting and analyzing data, and using it to make informed managerial decisions. Topical areas include data collection, tables and charts, descriptive statistics, basic and discrete probability distributions, and hypothesis testing. Individual and independent reading, research, and writing under the guidance of a School of Business faculty member and the Dean of the School of Business. A written learning contract must be on file in the Office of the Registrar by the end of the first week of classes in the semester in which the course is taken.
