Coming up:

Area school buses will be lined up the Viterbo Fine Arts Center Dick Record Entrance (by the Reinhart Center) in the morning and early afternoon for an Arts for Young America School Series performance. The walkway between the Varsity Athletics Center and Murphy Center may also be used for overflow bus parking.

National Transfer Student Week is Oct. 17–Oct. 21. Next week is a week dedicated to celebrating and appreciating our transfer students for choosing Viterbo to be their new home. Watch your email, VU Today, and social media (Instagram, Facebook) for daily events and updates.

Save the date for 2022 Fall Community Conversation on Servant Leadership Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 7–9:30 a.m. in Nursing Center Room 196. The theme is Conversations: Civic, Significant, Compassionate. The presenters are Sam Scinta, Ashley Zibrowski, and Amy Evenstad. All are welcome and there is no cost to attend. Join the VUSM 100 students as the welcome preeminent Franciscan scholar, Sr. Margaret Carney for the Franciscan Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in San Damiano Chapel.

Join the producers of the regional Emmy Award-winning Decoding the Driftless for a reception and screening of three new Driftless-themed short films and the original documentary Wednesday, Oct. 12 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. The Viterbo community is invited to a free student recital presented this Saturday by sopranos Rhiannon Baasch and Ellery Larson at 3 p.m. in the Nola Starling Recital Hall. This recital is offered in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree Bachelor of Music in Music Education and will include a light reception afterward.

On Oct. 13 from 7–8 p.m., in RCE 132, the sustainability club will discuss how our Ukraine donation will help doctors and nurses there, help the people of Ukraine. Guest Speaker Adam Karkora.

Strong Nation is tomorrow at 4:45 p.m. in the Mathy Center multipurpose room. This virtual class combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move.

Health Services has five available doses of the new Pfizer Bivalent booster doses for Wednesday afternoon Oct. 12. Call Sue in Health Services to claim a dose at 796-3806.  Health Services will be ordering more vaccine for future clinics. 

Viterbo University is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Monday, Oct. 17 from 9:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. in the FAC Lobby. Click here for more information and to schedule an appointment. As a thank you donors will receive a $10 e-gift card to a restaurant or shop of their choice.

 

Notices:

As part of the week long celebration of our new president at Viterbo students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit a prayer/hope/desire for Viterbo University and or Rick Trietley. Participants can do so by writing their thought on a slip of paper and placing it in the FSPA Prayer Wheel, located in the FSPA Prayer Garden. Submissions will be received on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week. Prayers will be collected and presented on Thursday, Oct. 13 to the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. Slips of paper and pencils can be found in the mailbox at the Prayer Wheel Shelter. 

The deadline for the May 2023 VUSM 200: Living in a Diverse World Abroad: Thailand Immersion has been extended. The class will be focused on Hmong history and culture. Application forms are available on the study abroad webpage and can be brought to NRC 423.

The deadline for the Spain faculty-led spring/summer 2023 Sports Nutrition and Mediterranean Diet course application has been extended. This course will travel May 16–June 4 in Sevilla, Spain. Application materials include: personal statement and letter of recommendation.
