The Service Saturdays team will be hosting pop-up service opportunities over the next couple weeks focused on advocacy during Black History Month. Sessions are Monday, Feb. 14 from noon–1 p.m. in the Hawk’s Nest; Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 4–5 p.m. in the Student Union; Monday, Feb. 21 from noon–1 p.m.in the Hawk’s Nest; and Wednesday, Feb. 23 from 4–5 p.m. in the Student Union.
Initial resources will be provided for participants to explore various issues (ex: pending critical race theory legislation, disparities in health care, prison pipeline, etc.), but the primary focus will be contacting local/state/federal legislators to advocate for improvements for our community. Stop by to grab-n-go advocacy resources or to write, email, or make phone calls for any specific issues you are passionate about.
Transfer Students: Join the transfer mentors for valentines and cocoa in the School of Nursing Building first floor lobby on Monday, Feb. 14.
Viterbo's Residence Hall Association will be hosting a "Send a Crush To Your Crush" event this week. Students can purchase cans of Crush soda for $1 each to be sent to students or faculty on campus along with a sweet, personalized note attached. Cans are available to purchase at the desk in the Student Union from 4–7 p.m. Feb. 9–11 and the RHA will distribute the gifts directly to faculty offices and residence halls on Monday, Feb. 14.
Auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) production of Red Riding Hood will be held from 4–6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14 in the Viterbo Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. Students in grades K–12 during the 2021–22 school year are invited to audition. Learn more at www.viterbo.edu/fac.
The Recycled Percussion performance originally planned for Feb. 10 in the Viterbo Fine Arts Center has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. All season tickets, FLEX packages, and single tickets already sold will be valid for the rescheduled date. First Year and Transfer Nursing Students: The application for the professional nursing sequence is now live. Applications are due May 1 for students wishing to start in the professional nursing sequence in fall 2022. The next Contemplation Workshop will take place Feb. 15 noon–1 p.m. in the Franciscan Spirituality Center. Join Sr. Sarah Hennessey and the FSC staff for a discussion and practice of various mindfulness exercises. The workshop is free for all employees but does require advanced registration.

A graduate student is conducting research to examine the risk of eating disorder related behaviors and thoughts in college age students, specifically the incidence in which it occurs in students involved in a health-related area of study versus those in a non-health related area of study. Viterbo dietetic interns Austin Croze Lila Finney are conducting a research study on how are iron levels affected by nutritional counseling and handouts among college students. Viterbo community members 18–30 years of age are invited to participate. People who are smokers, pregnant, breastfeeding, post menopausal and/or have taken iron supplements regularly in the past month are excluded in this study.
