VITERBO UNIVERSITY’S PLATINUM EDITION SHOW CHOIR AND
GUESTS TO PRESENT CELEBRATION 2014 MARCH
29
LA
CROSSE, Wis. – Viterbo University’s renowned Platinum Edition show choir
and special guests will present an evening of great singing and dancing with
their annual variety performance Celebration
2014 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
“We have a really fun show this
year,” said director of Platinum Edition and Viterbo music faculty member Nancy
Allen. “I really like it, and I think the audience will too.”
Celebration
2014 will feature a wide variety of
music including Broadway, pop, and jazz. The dances have been professionally
choreographed, and the show will feature a number of special performances,
including a father/son duet performed by David Mahlum and Viterbo student
Austin Mahlum and six solos and duets performed by members of Platinum Edition who
auditioned for the roles.
Guest performers will include the Lincoln
Middle School Show Choir and Tonal II, a men’s a cappella group. Professional
musicians from the La Crosse area will serve as the back-up band for the
performance.
“Several familiar songs will be
performed in a different musical style, which will add to the fun,” Allen said.
“For example, the group will perform a jazz/swing version of If I Were a Rich Man from Fiddler on the Roof.”
Celebration
2014 is the 15th spring show for Platinum Edition. The group is nationally
known in show choir circles and has performed across the U.S. including New
York, Los Angeles, Orlando, and Branson, Mo.
Tickets are $20 for main floor, $17 for lower
balcony, and $14 for upper balcony seating. For more information, contact the
