LA CROSSE, Wis. – Audience members of all ages will enjoy the Popovich Comedy Pet Theater when they perform at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 30 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
The Popovich Comedy Pet Theaterfeatures the unique blend of comedy and juggling skills of former Moscow Circus veteran Gregory Popovich and the extraordinary talents of his performing pets. His entourage consists of world-class jugglers, Diamond the Shetland Pony, and over 30 performing pets including house cats and dogs (all rescued from animal shelters), geese, white doves, and parrots.
As the child of two Russian circus performers, Gregory Popovich has been involved in the circus arts since the age of six. At a very young age, he formed a special bond with animals and began working with them in his circus acts. While working in Las Vegas, he visited an animal shelter and was shocked to find so many cats and dogs in need of homes. He began adopting and training animals from the shelter, and he now hopes to bring awareness to the needs of animals and shelters in the communities he visits.
To help Popovich in his mission, the Fine Arts Center is working with the Coulee Region Humane Society to provide information about animal adoption.Representatives from the humane society will be present in the lobby before the performance and during intermission to provide information about their adoptable animals. Before the performance, attendees can also stop by and visit with therapy dogs. Collection bins will be available in the lobby to collect needed supplies for the animals at the humane society. This performance is part of the Viterbo Ronald McDonald Arts for Young America Family Series.
