Enrollment is now open for a Viterbo University Bachelor of Business Administration degree program in data analytics that will begin in fall 2024.
Viterbo’s newest academic major was developed in response to the needs expressed in meetings with local employers, at which they articulated a need for employees who have the ability to analyze systems and complex data sets to make impactful business decisions.
“The data analytics program combines the university’s core business curriculum with courses in business intelligence, data analysis, and computer science, machine learning, and ethics,” said Tonya Wagner, vice president for academic affairs and institutional effectiveness at Viterbo University. “The program will help develop the next generation of ethically-centered and data-informed business leaders.”
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 23% increase in data analytics positions such as business analyst, data integration specialist, project management analyst, fiscal analyst, IT data manager, etc. by 2031.
All current Viterbo business programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), and the university will apply to add the data analytics major to the list as well.
The Viterbo data analytics major will also feature applied learning through internships with local businesses, health system organizations, and other employers.
“We are very excited about the launch of this program,” Wagner said. “It meets a real need in the community and is great news for our students.”
