Thank you to the many individuals who organized and participated in the “Talking About Death" Humanities Symposium Feb. 15. The keynote speakers, panels, breakout sessions, and the resource fair all demonstrated interdisciplinary approaches to complex topics and engaged students, faculty, and staff in conversation. I would like to recognize the leadership of Susan Cosby Ronnenberg, Toni Wissestad, and Janet McLean for their work in organizing the event.
Prior to the Tuesday, April 4 deadline, I encourage you to nominate faculty, staff, administrators, or students for one of the Rose awards given each year at Viterbo. We work with talented, dedicated individuals every day, and this yearly ceremony is one way we as a community can recognize the valuable contributions of our colleagues. The process is simple—click to nominate a worthy recipient.
As we approach spring break, we have a number of wonderful events and services on campus including Ash Wednesday Mass and a Christian Prayer Service March 1, a presentation by Kate Hennessy (granddaughter of Dorothy Day) on March 1 and Thursday, March 2, and the celebration of the National Catholic Sisters Week on Wednesday, March 8. I encourage you to participate in these events—reflect, interact, and celebrate as a community.
The warm weather in February has me hoping spring has arrived. It is amazing how quickly the semester is going so far. Best wishes for a safe and rewarding spring break for all of our travelers on service and study abroad trips.
