Advice to Other Students: If I could give advice to a student considering Viterbo, I’d say don’t be afraid to get involved right away. The campus might seem small at first, but that’s honestly one of the best parts. It is easy to make connections, and professors actually get to know you. Whether it’s joining a club, going to campus events, or just saying hi to someone in the Caf, it makes a big difference. Viterbo really feels like a community if you let it. Also, don’t stress if you don’t have everything figured out yet—there are so many people here willing to help you find your path.
Favorite La Crosse Spot: NOM sips and eats. A second close would be Howie’s. I also love hiking the trails at the Bluffs.
Favorite Viterbo Tradition: Late-Night Breakfast
Favorite On-Campus Food: All-Nighter from Einstein’s
Faculty or Staff Member who has made a difference: Dr. Matthew Bersagel-Braley. One of the wisest teachers from my first year. He always knew what to say, and when to say it. He has great advice and always keeps an open mind. I recommend talking to him if you ever need any help.
More About Audrey
“I am choosing to study biochemistry because I’ve always been fascinated by the human body and how it works, and I want to become a dermatologist one day. Science has always felt like a place where I can explore, question and understand the world around me, especially through hands-on learning in labs.
I’m part of the Honors Program and serve on the Honors Board. I also play on both the Viterbo volleyball and basketball teams, give campus tours as a student ambassador, and stay connected through STEM Club. Being involved has helped me build strong relationships and feel rooted in this community.
What drew me to Viterbo was the small class sizes and the ability to truly get to know my professors. I loved the feeling of a small campus in a big town. It gave me the best of both worlds. I never feel like just another student here. Professors know your name, check in with you, and genuinely want to see you succeed.
Something that Viterbo has helped teach me is the power of contemplation. I’ve started to find the good in everyday moments, even the boring or stressful ones. That mindset shift has made a huge difference in how I approach my studies and life in general.
Faith has also played a big role in my college journey. During the first few months, when I felt homesick or overwhelmed, I leaned heavily on my faith. It gave me comfort and helped me remember I wasn’t alone.
Looking ahead, I plan to apply to medical school with hopes of becoming a dermatologist. Viterbo has helped prepare me not just academically, but personally. I’ve learned to manage my time, communicate effectively, and face challenges with courage and curiosity.”
