KENT HANDEL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY WITH $110,000 GIFT BY TRUST POINT, INC. FOUNDATION; STUDENT ELLA DRIEBEL NAMED FIRST RECIPIENT
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Kent Handel Endowed Scholarship has been established at Viterbo University with a $110,000 gift by Trust Point, Inc. Foundation in celebration of the company’s 110th year in business.
Named in honor of the retired Trust Point CEO, the scholarship fund will award $10,000 each year to a female undergraduate student in the Dahl School of Business, with preference given to finance majors.
“For over two decades, Kent tirelessly steered Trust Point to unprecedented heights,” said Bill Bosch, president and CEO of Trust Point. “As we commemorate our 110th year in business, we take great pleasure in presenting Kent with this scholarship as a token of our heartfelt appreciation. This scholarship embodies the values and ideals that have held deep significance for him throughout his journey.”
Handel also served on the Viterbo Board of Trustees from 2009–2021, including six years as chair. The Viterbo Board of Trustees will match the distribution from the $110,000 scholarship endowment, making the $10,000 yearly award amount possible.
The scholarship’s first recipient is Ella Driebel, a junior finance major from Colgate.
“I was very surprised and extremely pleased to be the recipient of this scholarship,” Driebel said. “I hope to continue my education by taking MBA courses next year. I am greatly looking forward to a career in the field of finance and I am super excited for all of the possibilities my degree will bring me. Thank you to everyone who made this scholarship possible.”
