The library is participating in a statewide trial of e-books from the company IGI Global. The trial runs through the end of October.
IGI Global is a publisher working with leading institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, and Oxford. The academic library e-book trial we are participating in gives us access to over 6,600 titles in business and management, computer science and IT, education, environment and agriculture, government and law, library and information science, media and communications, medicine and healthcare, science and engineering, security and forensics, and social sciences and humanities.
At the end of the trial, we’ll evaluate which titles have the most usage and consider them for purchase. Purchasing items through IGI Global will allow our library access to all other titles purchased by the other members of this academic library consortium. Keep in mind, we will not have access to the entire e-book collection after the trial, only the titles purchased by ours and other libraries.
Faculty, if there is a particular title you are interested in, please contact your Library Partner about it. Purchasing the books in the trial involves paying a multiplier on the list price, so if we cannot afford to purchase the e-book as part of this consortial deal, we will look into purchasing titles for the library's collection through the normal process.
