The Todd Wehr Library has recently added a new resource to our Databases list: BadgerLink. BadgerLink is Wisconsin’s online library which provides access to licensed content such as magazines, newspapers, scholarly articles, videos, images, and music. It is a portal to almost 100 databases from vendors such as EBSCO, ProQuest, Britannica Digital Learning, LearningExpress Library, TeachingBooks, and the Wisconsin Newspaper Association, and it covers a multitude of subject areas. BadgerLink databases are licensed only for use by Wisconsin residents, so you will need to log in to use it unless you are physically in a registered school or library which has automatic access. (Viterbo is not registered.)
Some of the databases included in BadgerLink are:
- AltHealthWatch
- Archive of Wisconsin Newspapers
- History Reference Center
- Literary Reference Center
- Newspapers.com Library Edition - World Collection
- Newswires
- PBS Wisconsin Education
- Science Reference Center
- Teacher Reference Center
- TeachingBooks
- U.S. Newsstream
BadgerLink can be accessed by going to the Library's home page and selecting Databases under the drop-down Research menu underneath the chat box on the right side of the screen. Because access to BadgerLink is limited to Wisconsin residents, you will be asked to log in. Just select La Crosse - Viterbo University Library in the "Choose your library or school" menu, and then enter VUxxxxxx (where the x's represent the first 6 characters of your Viterbo username). For instance, Todd M. Wehr would enter VUtmwehr as his "barcode."
Enjoy!
