I know of no person who ever made a more consistent and persistent contribution to public education than Earl Bridgewater. For nearly 70 years, he remained an advocate, a role model, and a leader. He was always a gentle man, but was fierce in his effort to do what was right for kids, educators, and families. Like so many countless educators, I owe a great deal to Earl. I will never forget his subtle wit and kind spirit. He was a champion.
