Dr. Earl Bridgewater was truly an amazing human being. He was always striving for Viterbo University to be the best it could be, while at the same time so valued people—instructors and students alike. He truly listened to you and helped each person continue to grow and learn. He was an advocate for excellence, but never lost the “human” side of education. He kept up with current trends in education and supported innovative practices. He was the kind of person you could approach with anything such as sharing a celebration, asking for help, or problem solving a challenge. He had a humble and quiet demeaner, but he knew what he thought and the direction he needed to go or steer others. He always recognized and appreciated the efforts of others. He was a strong administer, but family and friends were so important to him.
He had an impact on me as an educator and as a person. I am forever grateful to have crossed paths and been able to work with him for so many years. He was truly a gift for all who had the pleasure to be a part of his “circle” of friends and colleagues.
