Making the Case for Global Citizenship a Modern World

In an increasingly globalized and rapidly changing world questions are often raised on what constitutes meaningful citizenship, as an individual, as a part of a group, and within the context of a global identity This course is designed to explore the concepts of global citizenship and identity from global perspectives via an individual lens. The course focuses on three explorations: 1) Who am I, in relation to personal self-identity and as a global citizen 2) What/who may be influencing the person I am and whom I wish to become in the world, and 3) What does it entail to be an engaged global citizen and what difference can I make in the world The first exploration seeks to investigate the foundational concepts of global studies and explore the real-world global perspectives from the students lived experiences and constructed identities. Throughout the second exploration, students will be encouraged to examine their role, impact, and consequent responsibilities as a global citizen. Restricted to students in the bachelor completion programs.
