Misty Lown
Misty Lown is an entrepreneur who embraces what it means to be community spirited, using her gifts and talents to give back to others. Much of this energy is rooted in charitable giving. For seven years, she coordinated the popular “Dancing with the La Crosse Stars” event, which raised over $400,000 for the American Red Cross. Under her leadership, Lown also founded A Chance to Dance Foundation and has provided over $200,000 in combined cash and scholarships to students in need. Through a program called “DanceAbilities,” Lown’s studio offers a one-on-one dance therapy program for children with disabilities.
A talented speaker, writer and entrepreneur, her reach extends well beyond the dance studio—to her church, schools and the community at large. For example, due to her personal experiences as a youth dealing with bullying, she teamed up with Gundersen Health System to narrate a number of videos dealing with that issue.
From a business perspective, this commitment to doing the right thing and uplifting others has contributed to building a successful business and she is the owner of Misty’s Dance Unlimited, one of the largest dance studios in the state. All things personal and professional—those involving work, family, or faith, are intertwined and carry a common theme. “It’s all about integrity,” she says. “I strive to be the same person inside and outside my business and to achieve that everyday.”
Misty and her husband Mitch are parents to five children: Isabella, Mason, Sam, Max, and Benjamin.
