Marjorie Collins
Marjorie Collins Marjorie Collins has provided outstanding support and leadership to the greater La Crosse community for over 65 years. She and her late husband, Charles, provided crucial support to a long list of important organizations and projects. The founders of Collins La Crosse Sign, later known as Collins Outdoor Advertising, Inc., Marjorie and Charles were always grateful for the many talented and dedicated employees who worked for the company. They also truly believed in giving back to the community that supported them during their six and a half decades in business. Collins Outdoor Advertising Inc. began modestly with “a couple gallons of paint and some brushes and ladders piled with their children in the back of their 1937 Plymouth,” said Marjorie, who would go on to own Pamperin Cigar Company and be active in real estate. The Collins have given generously to a long list of important organizations and projects, often without fanfare or recognition: the Viterbo University School of Nursing and Amie L. Mathy Center for Recreation and Education, Children’s Museum of La Crosse, Gundersen Health System, Mayo Clinic Health System Franciscan Healthcare-La Crosse, United Way, Western Technical College, the La Crosse Library system, the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman, the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater La Crosse, the La Crosse Dive Team, and many other local and national organizations. They have received numerous honors and awards. Marjorie and Charles were married in 1941. Charlie passed away in 2007. Marjorie has three adult children, Shannon, Michael, and Tim.
