Mayo Clinic Health System Regional Vice President Paul Mueller, M.D., to Speak at Viterbo Thursday

Paul Mueller, M.D., regional vice president for Mayo Clinic Health System, Southwest Wisconsin, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre as part of the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership’s fall lecture series.

Mueller, whose region includes Mayo Clinic Health System Franciscan Healthcare-La Crosse, will present “Technological and Treatment Imperatives, Life-sustaining Treatments and Associated Ethical Challenges.”

After joining the Mayo Clinic Rochester staff in 1995 as a physician in the Division of General Internal Medicine, he chaired the group from 2009–18. Today, Mueller is a professor of medicine and a professor of biomedical ethics in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. He is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians and in January he was named a fellow of The Hastings Institute, an internationally-renowned center for bioethics. 

Mueller has authored or co-authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications and hundreds of book chapters, abstracts, letters and columns. He is an associate editor of the New England Journal of Medicine Journal Watch General Medicine.
