“WHEN ANSWERS MEET QUESTIONS: ELEVATING HEALTH CARE AND ACADEMIA THROUGH COMMUNITY INSIGHT” PRESENTATION AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY NOV. 14

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Health innovation leader David Tillman, PhD, will present “When Answers Meet Questions: Elevating Heath Care and Academia through Community Insight” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 in Reinhart Center room 134.

Tillman has guided communities across the nation in blending professional and academic expertise with lived experience and moral wisdom to tackle pressing public health challenges, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic and opioid crisis. Since 2015, he has served as the chair of the Department of Public Health at Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, where he teaches courses in rural health, community health assessment, and public health ethics, and has led study abroad programs in Guatemala, Ghana, and Haiti.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tillman was a staff epidemiologist for the Emergency Operations Center in Raleigh, N.C., and managed contact tracing operations for Campbell University. He also led initiatives to combat vaccine hesitancy among American Indian communities and spearheaded efforts to develop comprehensive community-based strategies to address the overdose crisis.

In addition to his work at Campbell, Tillman consults with health care systems, local health departments, and state governments regarding strategies for improving health—especially in rural contexts. He has served as a member of several statewide committees in his home state of North Carolina.

This presentation is part of the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership fall lecture series and is a partnership with the Viterbo Seven Rivers Undergraduate Research Symposium. It is free and open to the public. No tickets are necessary, but seating is limited.
