Welcome to the following employees who have been hired recently:

Grace Esselman – admissions counselor, Office of Adult, Graduate and International Admissions. Grace joins Viterbo after graduating from St. Norbert College with a Bachelor of Arts in English. While in school she worked as a study abroad assistant. She also worked as an intern at the YWCA and served as a cabin leader at Crossways Camping Ministries.

Melissa Giefer – writing specialist, Academic Resource Center. Melissa comes from Winona State, where she worked as an instructor teaching courses in reading and writing. She has a master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and an undergraduate degree in English. 

Thomas Hammes – maintenance technician, physical plant. Tom comes to Viterbo after working more than 11 years at Ecowater Crystal Canyon. He has extensive experience with maintenance repairs, HVAC, and electronics repair.

Kalla Kalloway – information services assistant, library. Kalla has worked in libraries for over 40 years, most recently she retired from the Dakota County Library System. She is a graduate of Viterbo with an undergraduate degree in art education. She also has a master’s degree in library science.

Benjamin Larsen – reading/writing specialist, Academic Resource Center. Ben joined Viterbo after completing a Master of Arts in English degree at the University of Wyoming. During his time there he also served as a graduate teaching assistant.

Adam Malin – director of campus safety. Adam served as a deputy sheriff for Vernon County. He has also served as a police officer in Cashton and Westby. He has an associate’s degree in Law Enforcement, Firefighting, and Hazardous Materials from Western Technical College.

Ashish Mishra – visiting assistant professor, mathematics and physics. Ashish recently completed a Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He worked as a graduate student research and teaching assistant/instructor.

Jackie Morris – admission counselor, admission office. Jackie is a Viterbo alumna with a degree in vocal performance. She worked as a tutor at the Onalaska School District.

Haylea Pederson – graphic/web designer, communications office. She is a Viterbo alumna who earned a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communications. She worked at Metre as a graphic and UX designer. She also worked as a graphic design intern at Viterbo.

Kimberly Schrandt – assistant professor, nursing. Kimberly has worked as a nurse in a variety of settings. She started her career in the U.S. Army. She has also worked for the State of Wisconsin, Western Technical College and most recently REM-Wisconsin as the state director of nursing.

Sabrina Steger – assistant professor, business. She worked with La Crosse County as well as an adjunct professor at Viterbo. She earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from Viterbo.

Thue Xiong – part-time campus safety officer. Thue has an associate’s degree in criminal justice and has been working at Premier Security as a security officer. He has also worked as a security guard at the Wisconsin Challenge Academy.

Gavin Zimmerman - admissions counselor, admission office. : Gavin is a Viterbo alumnus with a Sport Science and Leadership degree. Gavin worked for Viterbo both as a recreational assistant as well as a fitness trainer.
