Celebrate the return of live theatre to Viterbo University as students present a modern version of the ancient Greek comedy Lysistrata Friday, Oct. 8–Sunday, Oct. 10. Performance times are 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10. Run time is approximately one hour. An Artists in Conversation discussion will be held after the 4:30 p.m. Oct. 9 performance. Tickets are $16 plus taxes and fees. Join the Identities Project Team as they collaborate with the La Crosse Public Library on a walking tour through La Crosse on Oct. 13 to hear about the history of the LGBTQ+ community. The tour will depart at 4:30 p.m. Meet at the Student Union at 4:10 p.m.
Identities Project also encourages participatnts to read We Will Always Be Here: A Guide to Exploring and Understanding the History of LGBTQ+ Activism in Wisconsin, We've Been Here All Along: Wisconsin's Early Gay History, and Coming Out, Moving Forward - Wisconsin's Recent Gay History to gain an inside look into historical events and topics being explored on the walking tour. Copies of the books will be available to borrow in the Diversity Lounge.
The Viterbo community is invited to attend the Viterbo Days Alumni Awards Ceremony Friday, Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Nola Starling Recital Hall. Be inspired by alumni who exemplify Franciscan values in their everyday lives including faculty member, Deb Murray. There is a complimentary social after the ceremony. A Fine Arts Gala on Saturday, Oct. 9 will honor 50 years of the Fine Arts and 75 Years of the Music Department. Over 70 alumni are participating in the Gala. Register for the panel discussion “Latinx Journeys in Higher Education” on Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. Registration is required. This panel will share the experiences of several Latinx students and professionals in their higher education journey, and how they navigated both education and the market place across the years. All panelist live and work in the Midwest and work at both Viterbo and UWL. This is an event organized by the English and World Languages, and Latin American and Latinx Minor as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
