Nicole Bettin and Kaitlyn Crawford will present their DNP final defense, “Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Comparison Between 2% Mepivacaine and 0.5% Isobaric Bupivacaine” on Oct. 6 at 3 p.m. in NRC 101. Employees whose spouse or child will be graduating in December have the opportunity to present their diploma cover during the commencement ceremony. Any Viterbo employee interested in presenting a family diploma cover must notify the commencement committee by Friday, Oct. 15. Academic regalia is required and may be rented from the bookstore. Health Services will be offering flu shots on Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. in Assisi Courtyard during Franny Fest. The cost for students is $8, as the Student Government Association will be covering the remaining $10. If cost is an issue students can contact Tina Johns at tmjohns@viterbo.edu for possible coverage through the student emergency fund. Employees who receive health insurance through the university will not be charged and insurance will be billed. For employees without university insurance the cost is $18. TRIO students will also be covered through their program. No appointments are necessary. For questions call health services at 608-796-3806. A COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine will also be offered at no charge.
Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination and booster shots will be available on campus Tuesday, Oct. 5for those who meet eligibility and are at least 6 months past their primary Pfizer series. There is no cost for any COVID-19 vaccines or boosters. Vaccines and boosters will be available during Franny Fest at the health services booth in Assisi Courtyard from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. The populations eligible, including recommendations for booster doses 6 months after the primary Pfizer series are:
- People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot.
- People aged 50–64 years with certain underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot.
- People aged 18–49 years with certain underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot, based on their individual benefits and risks.
- People aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster shot, based on their individual benefits and risks.
Booster vaccine recipients MUST bring their original vaccine card to receive a booster. Additional vaccine clinics will be announced as they are scheduled.

Students interested in participating in a study on the relationship between diet trends and social media usage should complete this survey. Participants must be between the ages of 18–23 and be enrolled as an undergraduate at Viterbo. The survey should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. Students interested in participating in a four-week dietetic research study on sodium intake should contact Bria Ferns at 320-493-1562 or bferns77211@viterbo.edu for more information. At least eight students are needed. Participants will complete a survey, participate in a free nutrition education session, and meet with dietetic interns over the course of the study via Zoom.
