Coming up:

Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University Danielle Allen will present “The Declaration of Independence Today” as part of the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership’s fall lecture series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

The Conservatory for the Arts is holding a Halloween costume sale Oct. 20–22 noon–6 p.m. in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center basement outside the costume shop. There will be costumes, sewing supplies, and costumes accessories.

Nursing students planning to apply to the professional nursing sequence prior to Dec. 1 should plan to attend one of the following application support sessions hosted by the ARC and career services: Oct. 19 from 2–3 p.m. or Oct. 20 2–3 p.m. hosted via Zoom (https://viterbo.zoom.us/j/7601526091). Students will review the essay and resume tips for the application and have an opportunity to ask questions.

The Viterbo community is invited to attend the V-Hawk Volleyween Bash on Friday, Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. in front of the Varsity Athletics Center. The event will feature a Trick or Treat Tailgate (children welcome), a costume contest with a chance to win prizes, the women’s V-hawk volleyball game vs. Dickinson State at 6 p.m., and Viterbo After Dark (a ghostly tour of Viterbo’s most haunted places). All are welcome to attend Theology on (root beer) Tap, Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. in the San Damiano Chapel. Join the religious studies and theology department as they welcome Meghan Mazzola who will be discussing her book “Faith Over Fear: Learning to Trust God Through Your Transition to College.” Free root beer floats to follow.

Everyone is invited to view and experience the powerful Remembering Our Fallen memorial exhibit on display during daylight hours in Assisi Courtyard Wednesday, Oct. 20–Sunday, Oct. 24. An opening ceremony will be held at noon Oct. 20. The exhibit will close with a blessing at 5 p.m. Oct. 24. The Remembering Our Fallen memorial includes 34 Tribute Towers with the photos of more than 5,000 men and women who perished during the War on Terror since Sept. 11, 2001.

The Viterbo community is welcome to attend the DNP final defense of Jenna Brinkman on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. in NRC 195. The presentation is titled “Preoperative Dose of Gabapentin and Opioid Requirements After Total Knee Arthroplasty.” Contact Michele Merten at mmmerten@viterbo.edu to attend virtually or in person.

           Students who are exhibiting COVID-like symptoms should schedule an appointment to be seen in health services and be tested, regardless of vaccination status. Employees exhibiting COVID-like symptoms should refer to the flowchart and contact human resources with questions.

The financial aid office will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 9–11 a.m. for computer training. Items may be dropped off during this time at business office cashier’s window.
