Coming up:

Attend a Veterans Day Service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 hosted by Viterbo Military Aligned Student Support and Campus Ministry in San Damiano Chapel. Featuring guest speaker and Viterbo alumn Curtis Peterson. The ceremony will honor all U.S. military veterans. Veterans are welcome to a free lunch in Viterbo’s cafeteria following the ceremony.

Veterans, retired, active duty, reserve, and national guard service members are invited to wing night is being held on Nov. 10 from 4:30–6:30 p.m. at the Recovery Room Sports Pub and Grill (901 7th Street). All you can eat wings will be available and drinks must be purchased.

Undergraduate students: Complete the “Academic Advising Perception Inventory” before Tuesday, Nov. 23. The survey asks students to provide feedback about their advisor and Viterbo’s advising program. Students should watch their Viterbo email for an invitation to participate. Students can also enter their name for a prize drawing. 

Students interested in learning about a four-week summer study abroad program in Spain are invited to join an informational meeting on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in Murphy 414. Contact Brianna Rice, bkrice@viterbo.edu, with questions.

Molecular Genetics students will be discussing germline gene therapy Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in RCE 201. Everyone welcome.

The Viterbo student Improv Club is getting back in action after a COVID hiatus and will be having an informal Improv Jam on Thursday, Nov. 11 from 6:30–8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. No experience necessary. This is open to anyone on campus, so bring friends and join for some fun and easy intro games.

Viterbo is sponsoring the White Privilege Symposium of La Crosse: A Vision for Racial Equity: History, Truth, and a Call for Action due to the university's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. This symposium will be held Dec. 3–4 at the La Crosse Center. This event will bring together over 700 people from numerous sectors and backgrounds to learn about white supremacy, white privilege, systems of privilege and oppression, and steps forward. Those interested in attending should email Jamie O’Neill at jmoneill@viterbo.edu by Friday, Nov. 12. There are limited tickets available.

TRIO/Student Support services is a federal grant that is competitive. This means Viterbo applies for it every few years. Viterbo has been successful in being awarded this grant since 1979. TRIO federal funding has contributed $10.6 million dollars to Viterbo. The grant serves 200 FG students at Viterbo and provides additional support, tutoring and advising that would not be in place without this funding. It also provides additional funding directly to students for activities, club dues, attendance at conferences, FAC events and licensing fees related to majors.
