Deconstructing White Privilege in Advising Tuesday, Feb. 8 from 1–1:50 p.m. in Murphy Center 346 and Zoom. Faculty and academic advisors are invited to join in a discussion about Tema Okun’s article “White Supremacy Culture” and Peggy McIntosh’s article “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack.” These articles will help bring awareness to privilege so participants may discuss how it relates to advising practices and how these practices might be changed. Participants are not required to read the articles before the discussion, as an overview will be presented. Sponsored by Academic Advising.

The first contemplation workshop will take place Thursday, Feb. 3 at 8:30 a.m. in San Damiano Chapel. It will feature a traditional monastic practice of meditating on sacred scripture called Lectio Divina. The session will last 30 minutes and everyone is welcome to attend.
