Coming Up:

Attend Dance Kaleidoscope 2021, an explosive dance concert choreographed by Viterbo dance minors and designed by Theatre and Music Theatre students in the design aesthetics course.  Student choreographers will present hip-hop, jazz, tap, contemporary, and musical theatre pieces and designers bring these pieces to life with innovative sets, costumes, and lighting. Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. Limited to Viterbo students, faculty and staff. Masks required. Two sessions will be held for employees needing their photo taken or updated, both in the media studio Brophy Center 125: Thursday, April 22 2 –2:30 p.m. and Monday, April 26 11–11:30 a.m.

Celebrate Earth Day at Viterbo April 22: 9 a.m. tree planting at the OAC. A bus or van will leave at 8:45 a.m. and return around 9:30 p.m. for those who would like to attend. Email kghurtgen@viterbo.edu if interested in a ride. 11 a.m.–2 p.m. succulent and mason bee house sale on Franciscan Way 11 a.m. Spirit of Saint Francis Sustainability Award presentation in Assisi Courtyard near Dancing Francis. Noon raffle drawing for this year’s participants in the Pledge to GO Green Eco-Challenge. 

Join Viterbo’s Recreation Department and other Recreation Department across Wisconsin in Run with Rec, a free, virtual run/walk this week where you choose your own distance. Students, employees, family members and community members are all welcome. For more information and to register please visit the WIRSA Run with Rec website. Registration opens April 1 and closes on April 25.

The Recreation Department is sponsoring a 9-hole Golf Scramble at Forest Hills Golf Course in La Crosse on Tuesday, April 27 from 4–5:30 p.m. for Viterbo students. Cost to students is $10 and club rental is available for an additional fee. For more information and to register, visit the Recreation website. Registration closes today at 5 p.m.

The Viterbo Art Department is hosting a series of art workshops for the Viterbo community.  Workshops are open to all Viterbo students, faculty, and staff. No art experience is necessary for any of the workshops. Space is limited, however, and registration is required. Workshops will be held on some Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. and some Friday afternoons from 2–4 p.m. Register by sending your name and preferred workshop to sjlisota@viterbo.edu. Workshops for the Week of April 18–24: Quick Paint Participants will work with acrylic paints to create an 11" x 14" painting. Linda Steine, Viterbo faculty, will lead this workshop on Thursday evening, April 22, from 6–8 p.m. in FAC 317. Space is limited to 15. Open Clay Studio: Try your hand in creating functional or sculptural forms in clay, on the potter's wheel or by hand-building them. Friday, April 23 from 2–4 p.m. in FAC 301. Space is limited to 10.

Volunteers are needed for Viterbo’s in-person commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 16. Two ceremonies are taking place at Logger’s field on the north side of La Crosse. Ushers, greeters, check ins, ticket takers are needed to successfully help our candidates celebrate. Sign up at http://bit.ly/May16Commencement All guests and volunteers will be required to wear masks and social distancing will take place. Viterbo community members including students are encouraged to sign up.

The Enactus Garden Committee is looking for volunteers this summer. The group grow gardens located at the Place of Grace and Coulee Recovery Center. Produce is shared with each organization and used in the meals they offer to the community. Whether for one day or throughout the whole summer, your help is appreciated.
