VITERBO UNIVERSITY TO PRESENT LITTLE WOMEN: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL OCT. 11–13

LA
CROSSE, Wis. – Viterbo University will present Little Women: The Broadway Musical Friday, Oct. 11–Sunday, Oct. 13
in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

Based on the classic novel by Louisa
May Alcott, Little Women follows the
adventures of the March sisters as they grow up in Civil War America. The classic
story is presented as an exciting musical with outstanding music and dancing.

“The students are getting the
opportunity to put on a grand show,” said Shane Rhoades, Viterbo’s visiting
artist in residence and director and choreographer of the production. “It’s a very
big production, and it will be 100 percent professional, from the music to the
set to the costumes. It’s excellent real world preparation for the students.”

In addition to the outstanding
music, audience members will find a great deal to enjoy about the story,
Rhoades said.

“They will get to see dreams
realized,” Rhoades said. “Everyone has dreams. Audience members will see it on
stage and will be able to personalize.”

Little
Women
stars Viterbo students Libby Anderson, Vasiliki Fafalios, Kat
Geersten, and Aubrey McCarthy, in the roles of the March sisters. Faculty
member Nancy Allen is the music director, alumnus Joey Miller is the associate
director, and student Nick Arceo, who is also playing the role of Rodrigo, is
the assistant music director.

“Viterbo has fantastic singers,” Rhoades said. “And
the music is melodic and powerful with a beautiful score. The Viterbo
production will also feature some extra references that pay homage to the book,
giving the script extra depth and layers.”

This performance is part of Viterbo’s Bright Star
Season and is sponsored in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board, with
funds from the State of Wisconsin. Soft Rock KHME 101.1 FM is the media sponsor
and Holiday Inn and Suites is the hotel sponsor.

Little Women is presented through special arrangement with Music
Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also
supplied by MTI, 421 West 54th Street, New York, N.Y., 10019. Little Women is based on the book by
Louisa May Alcott, with book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, and lyrics
by Mindi Dickstein.
