VITERBO UNIVERSITY TO PRESENT ALTAR BOYZ AT THE WEBER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS APRIL 16, 22, 24
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Viterbo University will present the popular musical comedy Altar Boyz at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16 and Friday, April 22, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24.
Altar Boyz is presented as a real time concert on the group’s national “Raise the Praise” tour. Band members Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan, and Abraham will attempt to decrease the number of burdened souls in the audience through the power of their divine music in this hilarious satire of the boy band craze.
“It’s a fun, exciting, and silly concert that everyone will enjoy,” said Matthew Campbell, Viterbo faculty member and the director and choreographer of the production. “It has great original music and is filled with humor.”
Altar Boyz is being presented in conjunction with Viterbo’s Shout! The Mod Musical.
“We are very lucky to have such talented students at Viterbo,” said Campbell of the cast. “I invite everyone to enjoy some great music from the 1960s with Shout! and then come and laugh with the Altar Boyz.”
This performance is part of Viterbo University’s NexStar Season. WXOW TV 19 is the media sponsor. Altar Boyz is presented through special arrangement with R&H Theatricals: www.rnh.com. Music and lyrics are by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker and the book is by Kevin Del Aguila. It was conceived by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport.
An Arts in Context discussion will be held immediately following the April 16 performance.
Tickets are $23 and $20. For more information or to order tickets, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or visit www.viterbo.edu/tickets.
