VITERBO UNIVERSITY FINE ARTS CENTER RECEIVES ARTS MIDWEST TOURING FUND GRANT
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Fine Arts Center has been selected to receive funding from Arts Midwest’s Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest, to support the performance of James Sewell Ballet’s Lover and Other Works Jan. 30. The Arts Midwest Touring Fund is generously supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support provided by General Mills Foundation.
The Arts Midwest Touring Fund engages people in meaningful experiences with the fine arts of dance, music, theatre, and other performing arts forms. Inter-state touring and the engagement of professional artists is central to the work of Arts Midwest.
Arts Midwest Executive Director David J. Fraher says, “Arts Midwest is proud to support the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center in their upcoming engagement of James Sewell Ballet. Arts events like this not only provide uplifting experiences for audiences, they also create meaningful jobs for those employed in the arts industry – thus amplifying the effectiveness of our funding.”
Based in the Twin Cities, James Sewell Ballet performs innovative work that explores the technical boundaries of ballet. The company will present their poignant and poetically comic ballet Lover, featuring the music of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, with delightful choreography set to “My Funny Valentine,” “10 Cents a Dance,” and more. During their residency, the company will facilitate a workshop and master class alongside their 7:30 p.m. performance on Friday, Jan. 30.
For more information about the performance, call the Viterbo Box Office at 608-796-3100 or visit www.viterbo.edu/fac.
