VITERBO UNIVERSITY FINE ARTS CENTER ANNOUNCES 2015-2016 RONALD MCDONALD ARTS FOR YOUNG AMERICA FAMILY SERIES

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Fine Arts Center has announced its 2015-2016 Ronald McDonald Arts for Young America Family Series, which will feature a mix of beloved children’s stories, as well as a journey into some fantastical worlds.

The series will open with Missoula Children’s Theatre’s (MCT) 23rd consecutive visit. This time around, MCT will present a rock and roll twist on Sleeping Beauty featuring a cast of local children on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 1 and 4 p.m. at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts. Auditions will be held Monday, Nov. 9 at 3:45 p.m. at the Weber Center, and children ages 5–18 are welcome to audition.

“The Missoula Children’s Theatre provides a wonderful opportunity for local children to audition and perform in a musical with other children from around the area,” said Michael Ranscht, director of the Fine Arts Center at Viterbo University. “They audition on Monday, learn and memorize the entire musical, and then perform on Saturday. They have a lot of fun, and we are glad that we are able to bring MCT back each year.”

The season will continue with Viterbo University’s production of Crow and Weasel, a show for the whole family that presents a mythical tale about the Land Where Dreaming Begins. Performances will be Saturday–Sunday, Jan. 30–31 and Saturday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m., and Friday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.  Following Crow and Weasel will be an exploration about the magical world of animals in Imago Theatre’s ZooZoo on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m. ZooZoo is full of the hilarious antics of animals from penguins to polar bears to frogs as told through acrobatics and illusion.

Wrapping up the season will be the childhood classic Are You My Mother? presented by ArtsPower on Sunday, March 20 at 3 p.m.  Baby Bird will embark on a whimsical journey for the whole family as she searches for her mother, encountering everything from dogs and cats to hens along the way.

The Ronald McDonald Arts for Young America Family Series is supported in part by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Wisconsin and Southeastern Minnesota, which has been a sponsor of the series since 1998.

Season tickets are on sale now through Aug. 7 and can be purchased by contacting the Viterbo Box Office at 608-796-3100. Packages range from $29–$41 for all four performances.  More information about the performances may be found at www.viterbo.edu/fac.
