VITERBO UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING TO OFFER CERTIFICATE IN NONPROFIT LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo University Center for Professional Learning is partnering with the La Crosse Community Foundation to offer a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership Development. This program has been designed to provide participants with a better understanding of how nonprofits function and the issues they face in today’s complex environment.
New this year will be a nine-month mentorship component in which people enrolled in the certificate program will be paired with a mentor who has significant local nonprofit experience to make improvements to an area of the participant’s organization.
This certificate program includes eight workshops led by nonprofit community experts and Viterbo faculty members. Session will be held on the second Thursday of each month, September through May, from 8 a.m.–noon on the Viterbo University campus. The classes, which include real-world case studies, small group discussions, and interactive presentations, were specifically designed to meet core competency areas identified by local nonprofit representatives. Community members will also be able to register for individual sessions if unable to participate in the full program. The list of workshop topics is available at https://viterbouniversityethics.regfox.com/certificate-in-nonprofit-leadership-development.
The Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership Development program is supported the La Crosse Community Foundation and Viterbo University.
“The program intends to address balancing the demands of community needs and limited resources” said Jamie Schloegel, chief executive officer of La Crosse Community Foundation. “Our region nonprofit professionals will receive a broad-based curriculum to help sharpen their skills to manage healthy operations and impactful programs, thus ultimately strengthening their missions and service to the greater La Crosse community.”
The Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership Development program is perfect for nonprofit staff and administrators with one–three years of service, people interested in volunteering for nonprofit board service, and newer board members looking to develop a broader understanding of board functions and responsibilities. Experienced board members looking to sharpen their skills, renew their commitment to board service, and connect with likeminded individuals who face common issues will also gain insights by participating.
