UNIVERSITY MUSIC DEPARTMENT TO PRESENT SPRING CHORAL CONCERT AT ST. PAUL’S
LUTHERAN CHURCH APRIL 27
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Viterbo
University music department will present a Spring Choral Concert, Sunday, April
27 at 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 400 West Avenue in La Crosse.
Works to be performed by
the Viterbo Concert Choir include Irving Fine’s The Lobster Quadrille and
Father William from Three Choral Settings from “Alice and Wonderland”; Eric
Whitacre’s The Seal Lullaby and With a lily in your hand; Charles
Villiers Stanford’s The Blue Bird. Choir, soloists and pianist Judy Stafslien
will perform a dramatic choral setting of Franz Schubert’s The Erl King. The 9th
Street Singers will sing settings of Skylark, Blackbird, and a German pop song
arranged by Sixth Wave “ Verlieben, Verlieren” (Lost in Love) which
features mezzo soloist Brittany Thummel. Men of the ensemble will perform
Kirby Shaw’s arrangement of Bridge Over Troubled Water.
The Viterbo Concert
Choir toured Austria and Germany in December and a CD of their music from this
tour will be available for purchase. The concert is free and the public is
invited to celebrate spring with this joyful music performed by the Concert
Choir and 9th Street Singers in the choral finale to the school year.
