VITERBO UNIVERSITY BRIGHT STAR SEASON CONTINUES WITH AILEY II DANCE COMPANY NOV. 6

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The outstanding dancers of Ailey II will perform at Viterbo University as part of their international tour at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.

Founded in 1974 as the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, the company embodies his pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training, and community programs for all people. Under the direction of Sylvia Waters from 1974–2012, Ailey II flourished into one of the most popular modern dance companies, combining a rigorous touring schedule with extensive community outreach programs. With Artistic Director Troy Powell at the helm, Ailey II continues to thrive as he brings a fresh dimension to this beloved company. 

Dance Magazine describes Ailey II as “second to none,” and The New York Times reviewer wrote, “There's nothing like an evening spent with Ailey II, the younger version of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.”

This performance is part of Viterbo University’s Bright Star season and is sponsored in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Holiday Inn Express is the hotel sponsor and MIX 96 WXYM is the media sponsor.
