Take Advantage of the Reference Desk

by Polly Scott and Annie Baumann

Faculty, did you know you can alert the library of an upcoming assignment to help better serve your students? We offer many levels of assistance at the reference desk. Sometimes we help students find a helpful database and offer some useful research terms. Other times we help retool their ideas to better refine their research process.

We love to see specific assignments coming up so we can alert librarians and tap potential resources ahead of time. We are here to guide, redirect or just reassure students of their research ideas. If your students need just a gentle nudge in the right direction, refer them to our helpful Subject Guides. Each guide has links to subject specific databases, books, reference books and background material, as well as tutorials to aid in the discovery of information.

Don’t see a resource on your discipline’s subject guide that should be included? Contact your Partner Librarian or the reference desk. Contact Kim Olson-Kopp or Annie Baumann with upcoming assignments.
