Rec Sports encourages healthy behaviors throughout the work day. Increased sitting, or a sedentary lifestyle, is increasing your risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other metabolic disorders due to physical inactivity. The average sedentary worker spends over 70 percent of their waking hours sitting. Metabolic processes within the body can begin to start running slower within 25 minutes of inactivity.
Join friends and colleagues in taking in the Rec Sports Active Workday Challenge Monday, March 14–Friday, April 29. The goal of the challenge is to increase daily activity during the workday by implementing small bouts of simple physical activity and healthier eating habits. No clothes change required. Click for complete information.
The event features a weekly drawing and great prizes for the winners. Cost is $10 per person. Sign up in the Mathy Center or by email.
