Student Veterans of America Leadership Institute

For the second year in a row, Scott Stene, Viterbo Veteran Services Student Point of Contact, left, was invited to attend the Student Veterans of America Leadership Institute hosted by General Dynamics and Gulfstream Aerospace. This year’s event brought 88 student veterans association chapter leaders from around the nation to Gulfstream’s world headquarters in Savannah, Ga. In addition to student veterans sessions, attendees were given a tour of the Gulfstream facilities, met senior management, and had the opportunity to tour the aircraft assembly line.

The focus of the Leadership Institute is focused on easing the transition from combat to class room and building sustainable student veteran organizations. The cohort based training had several breakout session from strategic planning, collaborative integration, networking and etiquette to advanced chapter management and best practices. The Military Family Research Institute at Purdue is an active partner in the Leadership Institute.
