LA CROSSE, Wis—Viterbo University's Concert Choir and the
9th Street Singers will provide the spirit of a traditional Christmas in
Germany and Austria at a concert on Sunday, Nov. 24, in the St. Joseph the
Workman Cathedral in La Crosse.

The choirs will present a sacred program which includes
music from their upcoming tour to Germany and Austria Dec. 18-Jan. 2.

The 54-member concert choir will sing portions of Josef
Haydn's "Little Organ Mass" featuring Judy Stafslien on organ and
soprano soloists Meggie Moyer and Anna Kirk.

The choir will sing Victoria’s "O Magnum
Mysterium," Randall Stroope’s "All My Heart This Night
Rejoices," the Chanticleer arrangement of Biebl’s "Ave Maria."
The choir and the 9th Street Singers, Viterbo's vocal jazz ensemble, will also
perform carols and spirituals of the Christmas season.

"We'll be singing a program of all the season's
favorites with some new arrangements of new carols," said Jean Saladino,
director of both choirs. "It's just the best music, and people will hear
the music in the beautiful acoustics of the Cathedral."

The free concert is at 7:30 p.m. A free-will offering will
be taken to help defray costs of the choirs' trip.

Viterbo's Concert Choir and 9th Street Singers tour
internationally every four years. For this year’s tour, the choir will give 11
performances, singing at Munich’s St. Michael’s Church, St. Peter’s Church in
Vienna and at the Melk Abbey for the midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.

In addition, the choirs will sing concerts and services in
numerous small towns in the Wachau region. Students will also attend a
production of "Die Fledermaus" at the Vienna Staatsoper on New Year’s
Eve.

Saladino said choir members will perform in the best
churches in Germany and Austria and get to experience a more traditional
European Christmas and visit places where some of the music was composed and
performed.
